I was inspired to paint these beautiful goldfinches after seeing some landing on the sunflowers of my garden to get the seeds. They will also feed the seeds to their young. This bird is the state bird of New Jersey, Iowa and Washington. These doves are often seen on the saguaro cacti in the Sonoran Desert, where they play a vital role in the cactus pollination and seed dispersal. The doves build homes inside the cacti and eat the saguaro fruit. Doves are seen as a sign of peace and love. I was inspired to paint this dove after seeing some on vacation.
