Description: This is my acrylic painting of a pheasant at sunset. In my eyes, pheasants are the most inspiring game bird. I thoroughly enjoy watching pheasants in the wild. Seeing a pheasant striking rich colors against a wheat field motivates me to paint them. In addition, I love painting sunsets and sunrises. For this acrylic painting I combined the sunset as the background, with the pheasant poised ready for flight across the field into the darkness. Description: This is my acrylic painting of an Ozark River. I went on a float trip on a river in southeast Missouri with some friends several years ago. We had fun, excitement and a few close calls on our journey down the river. Before our trip I had been studying some paintings of renowned artist from Missouri, Thomas Hart Benton. I learned that he had made a trip to the same river as a source for some of his paintings. On this trip, I was keenly more aware, and noticed all kinds of interesting reflections of colors, shapes and objects that could been seen in and around the gently flowing river. I was inspired about Thomas Hart Benton’s trip, his paintings and my experience on the river. I could hardly wait to get home and start painting.

Description: I just love old barns. This is my acrylic painting of an old barn at sunset. They don’t make them like they used to. The old ones made of wood look so interesting with the wear and tear, holes, missing and warped boards. So, I painted this old barn with a wind mill at one of my favorite times of the day, at sunset. A rustic barn stands amidst a field of tall grass under a vibrant sunset sky, with an old windmill nearby. The warm hues of orange and red in the sky contrast beautifully with the dark silhouette of the barn and surrounding foliage.

Description: After a trip to the New England coast, I was inspired by all the lobsters, so created this acrylic painting of a mythical Monster Lobster. The lobster is the state crustacean of Maine. Sharks swim in the water, adding a whimsical element to the scene.

Description: I love painting the striking rich colors of orange laced with black and bordered with white dots on a Monarch butterfly flying in the dawns early light. Description: This is a group of lizards called a lounge in a mandala pattern. They are sitting in a color wheel circle all looking into a black hole. I used acrylic and pearlescent paint to give shine to the skin on the lizards. I painted these lizards on black paper to give depth to the surroundings and contrast to their skin tones. A circle of vibrantly colored lizards surrounds a central point, each one painted in a different hue from red to blue. Description: This is my acrylic painting that was done from a photo of a sunset at Table Rock Lake. I love sunsets and lakes so this was a blast for me to paint. A reflective pool of water mirrors the silhouette of a tree, surrounded by dense foliage at the lake water's edge. The sky transitions from a deep blue to a warm orange as the sun sets behind the distant tree line.

Description: This is my acrylic painting with two large schools of koi swimming in a yin yang pattern. Within each school there is a circular group of lily pads with flowers. Description: I painted with acrylics this scene of Japanese Koi fish in a water garden full of lily pads. To give the water depth I used black paper. Koi fish with vivid orange and white coloring swim gracefully among lily pads and blooming white flowers. The tranquil water creates a peaceful atmosphere as the fish glide in circular patterns.

Description: I painted this design of animals that are just black and white. This includes penguins, killer whale, zebra, Holstein cow, zebra swallowtail butterfly, giant panda, snowy owl, dalmatian dog, tuxedo cat and a skunk.

Description: I used black paper to paint this field full of sunflowers near a farm at sunset. There is a barn and windmill on the horizon. I have seen this type of field in Kansas.

Description: I painted this landscape with three crosses and a powerful sunset at Golgotha. Golgotha, was, according to the Gospels, a site immediately outside Jerusalem's walls where Jesus was crucified. Matthew's and Mark's gospels translate the term to mean "place of [the] skull". About a stone's throw away from there is a vault wherein his body was laid, and rose again on the third day. He is Risen! Acts 4:33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all.

Description: This is my acrylic painting of a rendezvous of two goldfish. I blew bubbles of paint on the paper to create the special bubble effects surrounding these fish. Description: This is my plein air watercolor of the beach along the Emerald Coast of the Florida panhandle. I love watching the sea oats blow in the wind along the dunes of white sand.

Description: This is my mixed media painting of the famous Easter Island statues called Moai. I used salt and isopropyl alcohol for the special effects of the watercolor on the statues and sunset. Description: I like watching wildlife around ponds and lakes, so I painted this close-up of a dragonfly in the cattails. I used acrylics with a pearlescent paint for the shine on the dragonfly and the wings. I like how the wings turned out with being able to see through them to a certain extent and the shine/glare on wings in the light to make them look real. A vibrant dragonfly is perched on tall, slender cattails surrounded by a calm, blue background. Its delicate wings are intricately detailed, contrasting beautifully with the earthy tones of the cattail plants.

Description: I was inspired when I saw some California Quail on a vacation trip. I loved watching them run with their head plumes bobbing around. This is my acrylic painting of a pair of California Quail with some chicks. This part of my Toned Tan Paper series. A family of California quails gathers on the ground, with two adult birds and several chicks standing alert. Brown and beige hues dominate the scene, complemented by simple background grass strokes.
