Description: This is my painting of the Missouri state bird, the eastern bluebird and the state flower, the white hawthorn blossom. This is a male bluebird. Missouri was admitted to the union on August 10, 1821 as the 24th state. This is painting is part of my State Birds & Flowers Collection.

Kansas was admitted to statehood on January 29, 1861 as the 34th state. The nickname of Kansas is the “Sunflower State.” This is painting is part of my State Birds & Flowers Collection.

Description: This is my watercolor study of a pileated woodpecker on a tree. It is the largest woodpecker in North America. Pileated refers to the birds prominent red crest, from the Latin pileatus meaning ‘capped”. It is believed the cartoon image of “woody woodpecker” was based on the appearance of a pileated woodpecker. The bird's long, pointed beak and sharp claws are prominently detailed

Description: This is my mixed media (watercolor and acrylic) painting of a northern bobwhite quail whistling a call across the field. These birds are known for their recognizable “bob-white” or “bob-bob-white” call they make. It is also known as the Virginia quail. This painting was a winning selection as the “Northern bobwhite” in the special Fan Art Pack of bird cards as part of the 2023 Wingspan Fan Art Challenge. A bobwhite stands on the ground with its beak open, calling out. It features brown and white plumage with distinct black markings on its head.
