Description: This is my acrylic painting of the baby macaque monkey in a Japanese zoo named Punch-kun or Punch. This baby monkey was abandoned by his mother. Zookeepers gave Punch a stuffed orangutan plushie, which he began bonding with, clinging to, carrying around and treating as a surrogate mother. Later Punch began to play with other monkeys and eat without help from the caretakers.
Description: This is my acrylic painting of a labrador retriever dog used for tracking, search and rescue. These dogs have exceptional, highly trainable sense of smell. They have been used to follow scent trails, locate hidden objects, and track people. Labs are also used to track, locate and help remove invasive Burmese pythons in the Florida everglades. They also work with police for drug and bomb detection. I have had labradors as pets that are wonderful caring parts of the family.
Description: This is my acrylic painting of the courtship of two pufferfish. The courtship involves elaborate mandala art sand sculpture built by males to attract females for mating. The process involves intricate geometric patterns, ridges and shell decorations that serve as a fitness test for the male. Females judge the quality of these massive underwater “crop circles” (up to 7 feet wide) and lay their eggs in the center if satisfied with the male guarding the nest until hatching. Description: This is my acrylic painting of a historic rustic wooden tobacco barn near Weston, MO. The scene captures a peaceful landscape with rolling hills under a cloudy sky. Weston MO is the home of premium hand rolled cigars. By 1912, Weston had its first established tobacco market and it lasted 90 years as the only tobacco market west of the Mississippi. These barns were specialized structures for air-curing harvested tobacco plants that were hung to dry inside the barn.
Description: This is my acrylic painting on gray paper of a majestic rare white bald eagle perched in some trees. The dark, intricate tree background contrasts with the eagle’s white feathers. My brother, Lee and I found and he photographed this extremely rare white bald eagle in southwest Missouri. The bird was either leucistic or hypomelanistic with the white feathers. It was difficult to verify which type based on the great distance it was from us. Bald eagles with such conditions are estimated to occur in roughly 1 in 30,000 birds, making it a once in a lifetime sighting! I was very inspired upon seeing this bird in person so I had to paint it.

Description: This is my acrylic painting of a map view of Table Rock Lake featuring intricate winding waterways. The background is lush green, highlighting the location in the Ozark mountains. It is one of my favorite lakes to visit. This popular lake in the Ozarks of southwestern Missouri and Northwestern Arkansas is impounded by Table Rock Dam. The lake is near Silver Dollar City and Branson, MO. The lake has a fish hatchery and several marinas. The lake covers over 40,000 surface acres.

The illustration of the dog, was based on the bird dog of the book authors Dad. The dog was an English Setter bird dog named Whimpy. Whimpy was a good hunting birddog and was also family friendly.
