Barred owl perched in a tree Hoodie

This is my acrylic painting of a barred owl perched in a tree. The owls’ feathers and surroundings are intricately textured. They are informally known as a hoot owl or eight hooters owl. It has deep brown eyes, unlike most owls with yellow eyes. It is a powerful vocalist, with spectacular and loud calls. A common way to remember their call is “Who cooks for you, who cooks for you all.” I was inspired to paint this owl from the time my brother and I were looking for bald eagles at Lake Jacomo in Missouri. We were driving slow around the lake on a foggy and dark winter afternoon. All of a sudden right next to the truck was a beautiful barred owl perched in a tree. We could almost reach out and touch it! It stayed there for a long time
