This is my mixed media painting with watercolor and acrylics of a rock cairn at sunset. In prehistory, they were used as markers, as memorials and as burial monuments. In the modern era, they are raised as landmarks, trail markers or to mark the summit of mountains. A stack of smooth stones is balanced intricately against a vibrant red and orange sunset background. The arrangement creates a sense of harmony and stability with a warm, glowing effect.
