This is my acrylic painting of some cute little downy woodpeckers in a tree of the forest. Often described as acrobats, these kinds of woodpeckers can comfortably hang upside down to eat insects off a tree. The downy woodpecker is the smallest species of woodpecker in North America. I was inspired to paint these cute woodpeckers after seeing them active at my bird feeders. The males have red feathers on the back of their heads. The birds are depicted in various positions, highlighting their characteristic pecking behavior.
