This is my acrylic painting of an Allen’s hummingbird that is drinking nectar from the hibiscus flowers. These small birds breed in the western United States. The name of this bird is from Charles Andrew Allen, who identified the bird in California in 1879. A hummingbird with vibrant green and brown plumage hovers amidst a pattern of large, vivid red hibiscus flowers. The composition captures the delicate balance and beauty of nature. This bird painting is included in the bird playing card game called “Chirp Up”.
