This is my acrylic painting of a spotted owl that is perched in a tree hunting for prey. These owls are found in western North America. They are one of the few owls that have dark colored eyes. A detailed depiction of an owl is perched on a branch against a dark, mottled background. The intricate patterns on the owl's feathers are highlighted, adding to its lifelike appearance.
