Manatee mom with baby calf Tapestry

I was inspired to do this watercolor and ink painting on paper after seeing some manatees on a trip to Florida. The manatee mom is protecting the baby calf. They swim slowly in the water with their paddle-like tails. Centuries ago, manatees were mistaken for mermaids. This painting is part of my Florida watercolor collection. The scene conveys a sense of calmness and affection.
