This is my acrylic painting of the West Virginia state bird and flower, the cardinal and rhododendron. The rhododendron is actually a flowering shrub with purple, pink and white blooms in the late spring. West Virginia was admitted to the union on June 20, 1863 as the 35th state. This painting is part of my state birds and flowers collection.
