This is my acrylic painting of the New Mexico state bird and flower, which are the greater roadrunner and yucca flower. The chaparral bird is commonly called the roadrunner. The yucca can grow up to 30 feet in height. New Mexico was admitted to the union on January 6, 1912 as the 47th state. This painting is part of my state birds and flowers collection. A roadrunner stands in a desert landscape with sparse vegetation and a dramatic sky. The background features yucca plants and a sunset with layered clouds.
