This is my acrylic painting of the New Hampshire state bird and state flower, which are the purple finch and purple lilac. New Hampshire was admitted to the union on January 5, 1776 as the ninth state. Not purple at all, the male Purple Finch looks more like a large billed sparrow with a raspberry red head. The purple lilac was imported from England and planted in the area of what became this state. This painting is part of my state birds and flowers collection.
