This is my painting of the Pennsylvania state bird and flower, which are the ruffed grouse and mountain laurel. The ruffed grouse gets its name from the black “ruffs” on the side of its neck. The mountain laurel has fragrant star-shaped white and pink flowers, which is an evergreen shrub. Pennsylvania was admitted to the union on December 12, 1787 as the second state. This painting is part of my state birds and flowers collection.
