This is my painting of the Maryland state bird and flower, which are the Baltimore oriole and black-eyed susan’s flower. The flaming orange and black of the oriole shares the heraldic colors of the coat of arms of the17th-century Lord Baltimore. The black-eyed susan is the symbol of encouragement. Maryland was admitted to the union on April 28, 1788 as the seventh state. This painting is part of my state birds and flowers collection.
