This is my watercolor painting of the state bird and flower of Kansas, the western meadowlark and the wild native sunflower. Kansas was admitted to statehood on January 29, 1861 as the 34th state. The nickname of Kansas is the “Sunflower State.” This is painting is part of my State Birds & Flowers Collection.
