This is my watercolor and ink painting of some bobwhite quail that are gathering back up together in a covey after being separated. The quail are trying to survive the deep and cold snow of winter. Bobwhite quail roost in the form of a circle. The main reason is to conserve body heat and to provide a 360-degree surveillance of predators. A backdrop of sparse trees and undulating snowdrifts adds depth to the serene winter scene.
