Description: This is my watercolor tribute to those who sacrificed in the battle at Iwo Jima and the wars to protect our freedoms. Silhouetted figures work together to raise an American flag against a dramatic, cloudy sky. The scene conveys a sense of teamwork and patriotism as they struggle to plant the flag on rugged terrain. The monochrome background contrasts sharply with the vibrant red, white, and blue of the flag.
Description: This is my mixed media painting that includes watercolor and acrylic paint on this rainbow trout swimming near the bottom of a clear, cold stream. Pearlescent acrylic paint was used for the extra shine on the scales and to give the wet appearance on the trout. The current of the stream can be seen stirring up silt on the bottom. A vibrant rainbow trout displays its colorful scales in a detailed side profile view. The water appears to flow gently in the background, accentuating the fish’s natural habitat.
Description: This is my mixed media painting with watercolors, acrylics, pen and ink of two rabbits enjoying their life in paradise. Two rabbits rest among wildflowers in a vibrant green meadow, surrounded by rolling hills and distant trees. The serene landscape features a small stream cutting through the lush scenery.
Description: I just love old barns. This is my acrylic painting of an old barn at sunset. They don’t make them like they used to. The old ones made of wood look so interesting with the wear and tear, holes, missing and warped boards. So, I painted this old barn with a wind mill at one of my favorite times of the day, at sunset. A rustic barn stands amidst a field of tall grass under a vibrant sunset sky, with an old windmill nearby. The warm hues of orange and red in the sky contrast beautifully with the dark silhouette of the barn and surrounding foliage.
Description: This is my mixed media painting of the famous Easter Island statues called Moai. I used salt and isopropyl alcohol for the special effects of the watercolor on the statues and sunset. A series of stylized Moai statues sit against a vivid orange and yellow sky, capturing a sense of ancient mystery. The statues are set in a grassy, earth-toned landscape, adding depth to the scene.
Description: I like watching wildlife around ponds and lakes, so I painted this close-up of a dragonfly in the cattails. I used acrylics with a pearlescent paint for the shine on the dragonfly and the wings. I like how the wings turned out with being able to see through them to a certain extent and the shine/glare on wings in the light to make them look real. A vibrant dragonfly is perched on tall, slender cattails surrounded by a calm, blue background. Its delicate wings are intricately detailed, contrasting with the earthy tones of the cattails. Legend has it that dragonflies were given an extra set of wings so that Angels could ride on their back. When you see this winged beauty, it’s a reminder that an Angel from heaven is visiting you.
Description: This is my acrylic painting of Siamese fighting fish or betta swimming in a yin yang pattern. The bettas are the colors of a color wheel. A circular design features a blend of betta fish in vibrant colors arranged in a yin-yang pattern, creating a dynamic contrast. Each fish showcases a different color, ranging from red to purple, creating a harmonious yet striking visual effect.
Description: This is my acrylic painting with a design of autumn leaves that have fell onto the forest floor. The black paper gives it depth of the leaves on the ground. Vibrant autumn leaves of various shapes and colors are arranged against a dark background, creating a striking contrast. The composition includes leaves in green, orange, yellow, and purple hues, intricately detailed and symmetrical.
Description: I painted this lucky four-leaf clover with watercolor and added salt for the special magical effects. (A three-leaf clover is called a shamrock.) The four-leaf clover has come to represent the Holy Trinity, one leaf representing the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and God’s Grace. The four-leaf clover is considered good luck to find one since your chances of finding one are 1 in 10,000! If you find one, giving it to someone doubles your luck. A golden four-leaf clover stands out against a textured, earthy background. Rich hues of yellow and brown create a sense of warmth and depth.
