Description: This is my watercolor and ink painting of some bobwhite quail that are gathering back up together in a covey after being separated. The quail are trying to survive the deep and cold snow of winter. Bobwhite quail roost in the form of a circle. The main reason is to conserve body heat and to provide a 360-degree surveillance of predators. A backdrop of sparse trees and undulating snowdrifts adds depth to the serene winter scene.
Description: Here is my plein air study of lily pads I did with watercolors at Plover Lake. It was a beautiful day to paint sitting on the bank of the lake at the James A. Reed Wildlife Area using my pocket field sketch box of water colors. I added the white lily blooms with acrylic paint. A fisherman has lost his line and bobber as it got tangled around the tree limb by the fish. A serene lake is covered with numerous lily pads and white blossoms, creating a tranquil aquatic scene. A small fishing bobber is caught on a branch protruding from the water near the bottom right.
