A roadrunner struts through a desert landscape filled with cacti and distant mesas under a vibrant yellow sky. The scene captures the essence of the American Southwest with its distinctive flora and fauna.

It is the state bird of Louisiana and the national bird of some countries in the Caribbean. I enjoy watching these birds while on vacation in the south. Description: This is my acrylic painting of a pair of chunky full-breasted house sparrows. The male has the darker colors with a black bib while the female has more buffy brown colors. These are also known as English sparrows and Indian sparrow. These sparrows are very social and are strongly associated with human habitation. These birds are very common at my bird feeders.

It has piercing yellow eyes, long legs, very long V-shaped tail and stout bill. Look for the shimmer of the glossy iridescent colors on the feathers, which I have painted with a pearlescent paint to give more shine. They are known for being intelligent, social, and problem-solving birds.
Description: This is my acrylic painting of a white-winged dove on a cactus. These doves are often seen on the saguaro cacti in the Sonoran Desert, where they play a vital role in the cactus pollination and seed dispersal. The doves build homes inside the cacti and eat the saguaro fruit. Doves are seen as a sign of peace and love. I was inspired to paint this dove after seeing some on vacation.

Description: This is my acrylic painting of a Carolina wren at a bright sunrise. They sing year-round. The males alone sing and have a repertoire of at least twenty different phrase patterns. While singing its tail is pointed down. It is the state bird of South Carolina. A small wren is depicted with a vibrant yellow burst of color in the background, giving an impression of movement or energy. Various shades of brown and white detail the bird's feathers, and the artist’s signature is present in the corner.

He feeds the female during breeding and incubation of the eggs. I was inspired to paint these finches since they are common in my yard.

Description: This is my acrylic painting of a ruby-crowned kinglet in the forest. The brilliant red crown of the male is usually hidden, but the male will raise it when he is excited, agitated or singing his territorial song. Kinglets are tiny songbirds with relatively large heads and almost no necks. They flick their wings almost constantly as they go. A small kinglet with vibrant plumage, including a striking red crest, perches on a branch against a brown, textured background. Description: This is my watercolor and ink painting of the popular six colorful, tall and thin beach houses known as the “birdhouses” at Dauphin Island, Alabama. Each of these houses have a covered boat dock on the side facing Bayou Aloe in the Gulf of Mexico. I was very inspired to paint these houses after seeing them while staying on this island. They were originally built for fishermen but today they are summer and vacation homes. The entire island has been designated as a bird sanctuary.
